Indore: Continuing its campaign against the ‘land mafia’, Ratlam The district administration on Saturday removed encroachments from the land that was meant to develop a colony and distributed plots to the buyers, who have been running pillar to post for possession of the land for the last nearly three decades.
Ratlam Collector Narendra Suryavanshi He said that in 1994, Ehsan Mukati had built a colony in about 5 bighas of land. Surajmal Jain Nagar Sold more plots but did not give possession to the buyers.
“The affected people had approached us with complaints against the coloniser. Taking cognizance of the same, the administration on Saturday removed the crops and other encroachments from the land and provided possession to all the 38 plot buyers,” he said.
The market value of the land is around Rs 5 crore. During the drive, Suryavanshi was present at the spot and handed over the possession to the plot buyers.
The collector said, “The civic body has started the process of legalizing the colony, while basic amenities will be developed there by selling the remaining plots of the colony.”
